24th Annual Village Fun Run Results

Lois Miller and last year’s women’s winner Paloma Wiggins swapped places this year with Miller getting the drop on last’s year’s champ Wiggins.   Miller took the lead heading onto Limestone street, a mile from the start.  She then pushed her advantage to a 12:43 finish.  Wiggins stayed tough, clocking 13:12 for second place.   Third overall in the women’s race went to assistant coach Jessica Zagory.   The 3rd year med student placed 17th overall out of the 49 finishers in 14:36. 

 

Over on the men’s side senior Alexis Onfroy participated in his first Village Fun run since 2006 and came away with a win.  Cross Country Team co-captain Gabe Amrhein was second, improving over his 2008 finish by a healthy 39 seconds.   Following Amrheim in rapid fashion were Zach McHugh and Nathaniel Reed.   Both achieved their best times ever in the Fun Run as great weather allowed fast times.  Cool, cold, freshly sliced water mellow was also waiting at the finish line for all finishers.

 

Tops among the MS girls was Michaela Roe.  The 8th grade was 5th female overall in 15:10.   Talia Boutis was second as the pair ran together most of the way.    Seventh grader Fielding Lewis was tops among the McKinney School boys as he and teammate Nathan Miller had a very narrow one second difference at the finish line.

 

The master men & women divisions were topped by Michael Duricy in 12:22 and Kim Miller 19:01.   The Mill’s Lawn elementary school divisions were won by 8 year old Elliot Wiggins for the boys in 14:42 with 10 year old Annabell Walsh taking the girls’ title.

 

“I am looking forward to the start of our cross country season this Saturday at the Bob Schul Invitational in West Milton” coach Vince Peters reported.   “Both the men’s and women’s teams have already shown great improvement over their 2008 starts with today’s (Sunday’s) efforts.  And we have some excellent, yet raw talent at the middle school level.  It is going to be exciting watching them develop this year.”
